One of JB’s most popular tales, John Macnab is set in the Scottish highlands. A highly succeful trio of high-achieving friends, led by the barrister Edward Leithen, seek to alleviate their ennui by boldly setting out to poach game from three Highland estates. They do so annonymously, under the fictional name of ‘John Macnab’, but the stakes could not be higher, for their reputations could be lost. It’s a great yarn, with a holiday air, and has sparked imitation in real life.
